ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

• Responds to calls for emergency repairs.
• Observes, tests, and inspects equipment and machinery for proper operation.
• Repairs large capacity pumps, motors, floats, valves, pipes, screens, large horsepower gear boxes, conveyor belts, etc.
• Performs routine maintenance and repair work.
• Removes and replaces pumps and motors.
• Overhauls pumps, motors, and other equipment
• Performs preventive maintenance checks as scheduled.
• Maintains tools and equipment
• Maintains various activity records and logs of supplies and equipment used.
• Installs, maintains, and repairs water and sewer lines, pipes, valves, faucets, traps, sinks, and other related equipment
• Electrical construction and troubleshooting ranging from low voltage instrumentation to 440V.
• Performs other duties as required.
• Ability to maintain various forms of plant instrumentation preferred.
• Maintain plant boiler

MATERIAL AND EQUIPMENT USED:

• Various Hand and Power Tools Cutting Torch
• Light Truck or Other Motor Vehicle Power Sanders
• Grinders and Drills
• Welders as qualified
• Various diagnostic instrumentation and power meters.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Three – five years of progressively responsible experience performing mechanical maintenance in a plant (preferably chemical) environment.
• Additional vocational or technical training in mechanical maintenance is preferred.
• Any combination of education, training, and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the essential functions of the job.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

Knowledge of:

• Occupational hazards and safety precautions.
• Tools, methods, materials, and techniques of the specialty area.
• Operation and maintenance of hand and power tools.
• Basic mathematics.
• Working with power tools, equipment, or machinery following all prescribed safety rules and regulations.
• Electric power to 440V, and
• Low voltage instrumentation.
• Welding, electronics technician capabilities
• Rigger and millwright work, above 30 ft
• Glass line vessel and repairs
• Boiler operator

Skill In:

• Read and understand manuals, specifications, drawings, electrical schematics, and blueprints.
• Working with hand and power tools.
• Performing maintenance and repair tasks.
• Understand and follow oral and written instructions.
• Work as a member of a team, becoming increasingly knowledgeable and skillful

Working Conditions:

While performing the essential functions of this job the employee is frequently exposed to outdoor weather conditions, work near moving mechanical parts; work in high, precarious places, fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, risk of electrical shock, or vibration.
